“We’ve travelled 500 miles with a rubber ring for a Massey Ferguson combine harvester and delivered virtual reality machines to a yacht in the south of France”

Our History
PET (Pauline Edwards Transports) was established in 1992 in a spare bedroom at the home of the founder Pauline Edwards, initially offering transport solutions.
Challenging the stereotypical expectation of transport being a male dominated industry, Pauline gave up her secretarial work to start a haulage company. She was joined a few weeks later by her 19 year old daughter Vanessa, who also took a career change from a horse groom to the companies first van driver. The fledgling companies first vehicle was a 4 year old Fiat Forino van, but as demand grew it was followed soon afterwards by a Ford Transit and a second driver.
Experiencing rapid growth over the first year, they moved from Pauline’s spare room into a small storage and office unit of just 500 square feet where growth continued
In 1994 (the dav after her 21st birthdav) Vanessa passed her class 1 HGV driving test in 5 davs, first time.
Within two months she also passed her PC then applied and was granted an operating licence allowing them to carry goods in HV’S. PET could finally get their first tractor unit, a D reg Scania 112, Vanessa’s pride and joy complete with chrome chippendales bolted to the grill!
Over the next three years there were many early mornings and thousands of miles. She was met with mixed opinions being a female truck driver and took great pride in proving them wrong and showing up many male drivers.
In 1997 Vanessa packed up her CB as the company was still growing and she needed to spend more time in her transport manager role in the office. Now employing drivers and using sub contractors the company was going from strength to strength.
In 1999 Vanessa became managing director with Pauline taking more of a back seat. By 2004 Pauline had took full retirement and Vanessa continued to take the companv onto further expansion and success.
In 2000 PET ventured into warehousing getting their first 22,000 square foot warehouse in Queniborough, Leicestershire. Over the next ten vears demand arew and in 2010 PET moved again into their current home in East Goscote, boasting 50,000 square feet of secure storage space, which is constantly used by a wide range of clients storing reels of naner to food nackagina for short medium or long term storage
The move into being a Palletways depot in early 2017, has grown the business further. The need for more vehicles and trailers for the Palletways network along with increasing our knowledgeable, professional hardworking team of drivers, warehouse operatives and office staff.
Now in 2019, due to demand, we have expanded our storage capacitv from 55,000 to 70,000 square feet.
